Forward Mats Zuccarello has re-signed with the New York Rangers for a reported four-year, 18$ million contract, according to ESPN.com Zuccarello would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1. The new contract reportedly includes a partial trade protection, but the full details have yet to be released.
Zuccarello has been a key guy for the Rangers this year with 35 points on 12 goals and 23 assists in 59 games. He’s played primariliy with left wing, Rick Nash and center, Derick Brassard. Zuccarello led the Rangers with 59 points last season so the signing seems like the right move for the organization.
