It didn’t take long for the madness to begin this year. Yesterday saw two major upsets in the NCAA tournament. Two number 3 seeds, Iowa State and Baylor were both knocked off by 14 seeds and given an early exit. UAB and Georgia State were the two culprits.
As shocking as those two games were to the many who watched, there were some things in day 1 that were very much the same as we have seen all season. Kentucky rolled right along in their first matchup by dismantling Hampton University.
Vilanova moves on easily in their first games, as well as Arizona, and Notre Dame. 9 out of the 16 games played yesterday were decided by 5 points or less, so saying that this tournament is already action packed is by far an understatement. The action hasn’t been as crazy in day 2 so far, but the night is not over. The Chief will be pulling for the hometown Providence Friars later on tonight, and he will also be rooting for more craziness to ensue throughout the tournament. This truly is one of the best times of the year.
