Kenny Omega Agrees to New Contract with NJPW!

By  |

Canadian born NJPW IWGP United States heavyweight champion has reportedly signed a new deal with new japan pro wrestling according to Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer. This new contract with NJPW  will run through Jan. 31, 2019. Which means Kenny Omega definitely won’t be coming to WWE anytime in the future.

The deal comes after Kenny Omega had one of the best matches of his career against Chris Jericho in a no DQ match at Wrestlekingdom 12 in which Dave Meltzer rightly gave them 5*. For people who aren’t fans of NJPW. Wrestlekingdom is basically NJPW’s answer to WWE’s wrestlemania however instead of April like wrestlemania, Wrestlekingdom is in January.

When Jericho announced he would be taking part in Wrestlekingdom it initially came as a bit of a shock considering Jericho is very loyal to WWE. However the decision turned out to be the right one when the match received 5* from critics.

Omega has already accomplished a lot in NJPW.  He is the U.S. titleholder and has also won the Intercontinental Championship, Junior Heavyweight Championship, Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship and NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship. The only big accolade he has to win is IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Omega also won the 2016 G1 Climax and headlined Wrestle Kingdom 11 in a classic against Kazuchika Okada.

With this new deal being announced WWE fans will be sad considering some were hoping for a surprise royal rumble entrance from Kenny Omega in  the same way AJ Styles did in 2016.

This definitely won’t happen this year but WWE fans should keep their fingers crossed for a surprise entrance in the 2019 Royal Rumble.
